Fond Farewell to Fisgard Noodlebox – Hello Kitsilano!

Bao RestaurantThe Celiac Scene was surprised to learn that Noodlebox’ Fisgard location has closed and that Bao Restaurant has taken over the space at 626 Fisgard. Ironically, Bao owners Arthur Webb and Kylie Arnot enjoyed an almost decade-long relationship with the popular South East Asian franchise and have come full circle by setting up shop on the sunny side of Fisgard.

EAT Magazine, July-August 2016, p.6

While the new interior  is certainly reminiscent of  Noodlebox, Bao’s nuanced menu reflects a broader Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean and even Japanese influence, according to EAT Magazine.

Unfortunately for gluten-free diners, the celiac-friendly offerings have been reduced to just a single posted item plus one that can be adapted.  No doubt delicious –  and prepared according stringent  standards – our gluten-free fingers are crossed that more options may be added to Bao’s  menu in the future. The Celiac Scene wishes Bao every success in the interim!
