My name is Lisa. I was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2015. Like many of us, in the beginning stages of having to drastically change our diet, I struggled to learn the do’s and do not’s of this “food is my medicine” regime.
While I was initially happy to be healthier and not sick everyday, the gluten-free lifestyle caused me significant weight gain. The weight gain eventually lead to depression and well anyone familiar with this battle knows the rest of the story.
Contrary to what mainstream media sells you on the gluten-free diet for weight loss purposes, this is only true if you stay away from processed alternatives that, unbeknownst to most, are full of sugar to compensate for flavour.
Gluten-free food substitutes never satiated me. I was always hungry an hour later. I had heard of the ‘Keto Diet’ a couple of years ago but transitioning to the gluten-free diet was hard enough and I didn’t feel I was ready to try and complicate my life anymore than I felt it already was but … I wish I had done my research back then as it’s really not far off the gluten-free diet.
Since starting Keto, sure I’ve had my ‘fail’ moments but I finally got serious and now I’m down 16lbs and feeling terrific! My overall health has improved and I no longer require monthly IVIG treatments for life.
My goal is to collaborate, educate and inspire others towards a “Gluten Free Keto Lifestyle” and support those looking to improve their overall health and get a more enjoyable life back. After all, sharing is caring!
A healthy lifestyle is not just about the foods that fuel your body, it’s also about the words that fuel your mind. We all have days where we get down on ourselves but it’s SO important to surround yourself with positive people, places and things. Silence the negative self-talk. Get out and do the things you enjoy most. You have the power to cast aside the negativity in this life. Don’t let it take you down. You’re either your own problem or your own solution. Don’t let anything stand in the way of your true happiness and the person you envision yourself to be!
