Celiac Scene July News Round Up on ‘A Canadian Celiac Podcast’
- “If you’ve never tried a podcast before, they are a great way to listen and learn while you are busy doing something else – cooking, hiking, driving or just relaxing. You choose!” Cinde Little, everydayglutenfreegourmet.ca
A special guest on the July News Round up is Tamir Barzilai, from honeycomb.ai, the app that will allow us to set a profile of our dietary restrictions, direct you to restaurants that meet our needs and even give us specific meal suggestions! The app will be released in late summer or early fall, and will charge for use on a monthly basis.
Tamir invites us to sign up for the app prior to release at a cost of $14 (US) to own the app for life and enjoy the beta testing before its release. Sign up as an early adopter at get.honeycomb.ai/celiac.
We also chat about online medical resources that provide in depth information on celiac disease and other related gut health issues. One of the resources compares celiac disease to IBS, a condition many of us have been diagnosed with.
We go on to discuss a recent article on money saving strategies for the gluten free diet, and a study performing a new type of mass screening of children in Italy for celiac disease. As well, Ellen talks about our unique ability to host visiting students who require a gluten free diet.
